UNITE Students is only possible with the dedication and passion of a large and diverse team of adults, young adults and students committed to our vision: Creating a space for all people to connect in such a way that every generation feels empowered to cultivate God’s vision of love and grace in our world.

An integral part of UNITE Students is the Crew of young adults that dedicate their time at the event to not only create space but to cultivate imagination, experience and, above all, the safety and belonging of the students and leaders attending.

An event this impactful requires a lot of energy, passion and teamwork, but you will leave transformed! The UNITE Students Crew has the unique opportunity to get behind-the-scenes experience of a large-scale conference. Be prepared to ask questions, assist directors, take on leadership and offer ideas from your perspective.

UNITE Students Crew will be visible to students and will lead activities but will not be leading specific groups of students. As such, Crew are expected to conduct themselves in a respectable manner and set a good example for the students that are watching. These students look up to our Crew members.

UNITE Students Crew will be housed in apartments just off-campus. Each member will have their own room, and up to four Crew members will sleep in one apartment (four bed, two bath) with meals provided. Upon acceptance and closer to the event, you will receive more information on specific job roles, packing list, arrival times, etc.

Job Description and Qualifications

General Description

The UNITE Conference Crew works with the Missouri Conference NextGen Ministries. This position works in cooperation with the UNITE Conference to help produce a God-inspired, fun-filled, life-changing week for everyone attending.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Bring high energy to every aspect of UNITE

  • Passionate about serving students through the overall UNITE experience

  • Willingness to step up in action when asked

  • Understand opportunities to disciple campers, if available

  • Work with other Crew to lead student activities throughout the week

  • Assist with set up, operation and tear down of UNITE equipment

  • Work with local church leaders to provide an exciting welcoming experience for all students

  • Participate in games, tournaments, songs, worship production and activities when needed

  • Work on special projects as assigned (tournaments, stage games, electives, camera operator, etc.)

  • Maintain collaborative working relationship with other UNITE staff

Compensation

  • Non-exempt, $700 per event week or $1,600 for both weeks of UNITE

  • Work schedule will be July 11-16 and/or July 20-25 in Fayette, Missouri. 

Qualifications and Preferred Skills

  • Preferred experience in a related degree or job-related experience

  • Some experience in ministry whether paid or unpaid preferred

  • Ability to maintain an orderly workflow according to priorities

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Problem-solving attitude

  • Desire to serve Jesus Christ, through the Church, with a loving, warm, welcoming and helpful nature

  • A desire for discipleship and servant leadership

  • Desire to support and grow The United Methodist Church and a basic understanding of UMC polity and governance

  • This position requires confidentiality, decorum, creativity, flexibility, a diverse skill set and collaboration with internal and external groups. There is a high degree of social interaction required. 

 Expectations

  • Commitment to Missouri Annual Conference’s vision and mission: The Missouri Conference will relentlessly lead our churches to become outwardly focused and spiritually centered Christ followers. All Missouri Conference staff are expected to be committed to growth in their own personal discipleship.   

  • Travel involved, specifically to get to Fayette for UNITE

  • Attend Zoom meetings prior to UNITE to prepare for event

  • Arrive one day early for final walk through of program
